The Laws identified above strike a balance in favour of what is most likely to occur on the field of play and will enable individuals to deal with most situations confidently. It is not expected that any one Law will be covered in the depth that will be needed for higher levels although the health and safety aspects must be fully appreciated.

Assessment, certificate and ECB ACO membership
The candidates are to be assessed by members of their local Association and the purpose of the assessment is for the assessor to satisfy himself or herself that each candidate would be able to cope confidently with the most important and common incidents that are likely to arise in a cricket match.
As stated above the assessment cost is offset by membership of the ECB Association of Cricket Officials, ECB ACO.

Membership is recommended for Insurance and CRB clearance benefits.
