v Cambridgeshire CCC 2nd May 2010 @ Falkland CC

Berkshire County Cricket Club were left frustrated when their opening fixture of the 2010 MCCA KO Cup against Cambridgeshire at Falkland's Wash Common ground on Sunday was abandoned because of rain without a ball being bowled.

"We were all disappointed as losing our first game in the competition to the weather is not ideal" said skipper Bjorn Mordt.
"We felt that Cambridgeshire were not the strongest side in the group and we were confident of getting a good result".

It now means that the Royal County, finalists in 2008, will probably need to win at least two of their three remaining group games if they are to qualify for the knock-out stages.

The first of those is against Norfolk at Horsford, north of Norwich on Sunday 9th May. Norfolk are the trophy holders and have won the competition three times since 2001.

Berkshire will be making two changes from the team that they had planned to field against Cambridgeshire.

Bowlers Tom Parsons, Stephen Wheeler and Kyle Hodnett, all new to Berkshire this year are named in the 12, while batsman Michael Roberts, and wicketkeeper Todd Hutcheson are left out. Skipper, Mordt will don the keeper's gloves.
